How is a Boy Scout Different from an Eagle Scout?

If you're thinking about going from Boy Scout to Eagle Scout, you might want to know the differences. There are, in fact, many differences. First, a Scout can't become an Eagle Scout until they have earned a certain number of merit badges. Also, you need three higher awards to get the Eagle rank in the BSA.

In the United States, a Boy Scout is not as well known as an Eagle Scout. However, because Eagles from the past have done so well as adults, the award is significant to the American way of life. Over 2 million boys have become Eagle Scouts since 1912. The first girl Eagle is likely to get her award in the middle of the 2020s.

The Eagle Scout program is tough to complete. To become an Eagle Scout, you must meet requirements that start when you are a Cub Scout. A person must also be 17 years old to become an Eagle Scout. Even though both ranks have high standards, there are some critical differences between them. Here is a list of these. The level of commitment is one of the most important differences between the two groups.

To get the Eagle Scout rank, a Scout must do a service project that helps the community. Several steps of approval are needed for these projects. Usually, an Eagle Scout is a leader in his troop and has earned at least 21 merit badges. But some scouts may not get the rank because they have a disability. No matter their differences, both levels require commitment and hard work.

The way they run things is another big difference. Most of the leadership in Cub Scouting comes from the parents, but in Scouts BSA, more than half of the administration comes from the scouts themselves. As a result, the BSA has a much more formal chain of command than the Cub Scouts. A lot more emphasis is also put on learning by doing. The highest rank in Boy Scouts is the Eagle rank. To get this rank, a scout must earn 21 merit badges, which can be about anything from camping to being ready for an emergency. He also has to be a leader in his troop for six months and go through a board of review. He is also supposed to do a service project for a group that doesn't make money.

When it comes to how long it takes to get the Eagle rank, most scouts choose a slower path. This is because the Scout might be busy with other things. Also, the Scout isn't likely to get the Eagle if he isn't First Class by the end of his third year.

Whether or not a Scout becomes an Eagle Scout depends on how interested and skilled they are. The Eagle Scout is a significant award that requires commitment, hard work, and service to the community. This gives a teen something to work toward. Getting to the rank of Eagle Scout also gives them confidence, leadership skills, and a strong sense of responsibility to their community. Also, you can choose from more than a hundred merit badges. When a young person gets the Eagle Scout rank, they can apply for scholarships and other benefits.

To become an Eagle Scout, a scout must finish his service project. He has to research, get help from people in the community, and plan a project. Ultimately, he needs to finish the project and give it to the district board. Before the Scout turns 18, they must finish this project. After completing everything required to become an Eagle Scout, he must meet with a panel of reviewers. During this process, he has to tell the committee about his past as a scout and how he plans to help his community. Then, the review board will decide whether the project was exemplary.

If a child has a disability that makes it hard for him to meet the requirements, he can ask for a short amount of extra time. Not often are these extensions given. Before agreeing to the Eagle Scout requirements, the Scout's parents should know this could happen.

There are many scholarships and other rewards that an Eagle Scout can get. On the Unigo website, there is a list of scholarships for Eagle Scouts. Also, Eagle Scout status is something that most employers look for on a resume. This recognition symbolizes positive traits and can open doors throughout life.
